This page contains a candidate markup for easy citations, as illustrated by different examples.

Example 1

Below is an example of using markup for easy citations that use as little markup as possible.

Bla bla bla Adam's book [[cite:ref1]] ... ... [[cite:ref2]].
Bla bla and as Adam wrote [[cite:ref1]] (p. 500) bla bla...
Bla bla by [[cite:ref2 | Rankin and Ridderstr�m]]

: [[#ref2]] : ...
: [[#ref1]] : Adam, Some Title, 19xx

Notes:

‘[[cite:ref1]]’ will by default be be rendered as the number

Example 2

The following is an example using a proof-of-concept simple citation markup. It supports various Bibliography Features.

Bla bla bla Adam's book cite(Rankin:2006) ... and ...
cite("see"vonGaza:1984).
Bla bla and as Adam wrote cite(Michaud:2004"p 500") bla bla...
Bla bla by Cite(Rankin:Ridderstr�m:2002)
Bla bla by Cite(Rankin:Ridderstrom:2002) is recognised.


And finally cite(Soo:Grabbitt:Runn:2005) -- how cool is that!
Alternatively, [@*cite(Soo:Grabbitt:Runn:2005)@] give the full names:
*cite(Soo:Grabbitt:Runn:2005).

And finally Soo et al. (2005) — how cool is that! Alternatively, *cite(Soo:Grabbitt:Runn:2005) give the full names: Soo, Grabbitt, and Runn (2005).

Let’s see the bibliography! There is no longer a problem with Ridderstr�m. What do we do with special characters in names? Answer: convert them to HTML entities and remove the & and ; characters.
