- Summary
- new sections following figures handled poorly

- Description
- With the “section new page” option set, new sections that follow figures that have floated to the next page because of space limitations on the previous page are not correctly moved to the next page. While in reality they are on the next page with respect to the body text they follow, they are not on the next page following an image that was part of the previous section.

- Proposed solution
- I think by handling the [[<<]] markup correctly for blocks such as section headers, this problem could be fixed by the end user.

- Resolution
- We can try adding a float barrier before the section, if the “section new page” option is set. However, it may not be possible to change this behaviour — LATEX works the way it works. There is a discussion of floats in the (LATEX wikibook). The advice appears to be to reword the text in a way that moves the figure to a more appropriate place.
Float barrier added if sectionnewpage=on — see Wednesday, 14 November 2007.
