Custom Floats

Description
At the moment we have floats for figures and tables. But there is no syntax to allow an author to create snippets of text which floats. This could be useful to create text which is not part of the running text, so it can float around, but which may be referenced from the running text.

An example of where this may be useful is in a report on coding standards where code could be put in one of these floats, and then referenced.

Proposed solution
John are working on this, with some help from Gustav. So far, discussions have brought up the suggestion of using the already existing frame class of pmWiki.

Also, discussions have brought up issues around having one single type of text float or allow the existence of many. The current proposed approach can be tested at Examples.Floating Divs. A reader can choose the custom float style from the PDF options form (next to the PDF icon).

Resolution
Added in wikibook server version 1.0.0 and PDF library version 2.2.01. See Monday, 10 March 2008. This provides a choice of 4 custom float styles.
