- At the moment, the Wikipublisher engine handles Latin characters, including support for the long vowels in Māori. It does not support other alphabets, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Cyrillic.

- The LATEX typesetting system suports most languages, using packages such as CJK in conjunction with Unicode TrueType fonts. To take advantage of these packages, the Wikipublisher engine would need to enhance the way it handles Unicode characters.
